Sergio Carnevale is an economist and development expert with over 15 years of experience in youth employment, labor markets, entrepreneurship, and private sector development. His work spans Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, where he has led initiatives to strengthen economic ecosystems, enhance job creation, and improve market access for young people and small businesses. He has collaborated with governments and organizations such as GIZ, UNDP, USAID, FCDO, and EU Delegations to design forward-thinking policies and programs that drive entrepreneurship, foster investment, and ensure young people have access to meaningful employment opportunities.

He co-founded two startups in Ethiopia, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities entrepreneurs face. He also briefly ran a construction company, further deepening his understanding of business operations, investment facilitation, and market dynamics.
A strong advocate for innovation in economic development, Sergio works to embed transformative solutions within government systems to create lasting structural change. He has played a key role in convening high-level stakeholders—including policymakers, business leaders, and development agencies—to shape labor market policies, improve investment climates, and align government strategies with private sector needs.
"Building resilient labor markets and dynamic entrepreneurship ecosystems requires more than short-term fixes—it demands systemic change embedded within government institutions. Big Win Philanthropy is committed to ensuring that policies and investments translate into real, lasting opportunities for young people."
