A new report, From Millions to Billions: Financing the Development of African Cities by Astrid Haas, Anton Cartwright, Aweng Garang and Vera Songwe was presented at the African Investment Forum. The report offers a landscape analysis of city financing in Africa and illuminates the demand-side and supply-side constraints that prevent financing from reaching most African local authorities, drawing on in-depth analyses of 10 cities. On the demand side, the report shows how African cities can proactively attract finance on their own terms through a suite of simultaneous actions to improve their creditworthiness.
